The Battle

Galatians 5:14-15

If I could show you what I see
I see a field that once was green
But now it is red with the blood of a war
From those who knew not what this would afford
Some came a running ready to fight
Some came a trembling with tears in their eyes
But the moment the first soldier went down
The question was destined “Do we keep fighting now?”

If I could show you what I hear
It’s the shot of a harsh tongue falling on my ear
And untethered mouth is an arguments gun
Causing a Battle where there need not be one
Some will enter the Battle in peace
Seeking to listen rather than speak
And only when needed
Will they utter a word
Like rain on a fire their words will be heard.

If I could ask you a question right now
Please tell me what is this fight all about?
So many soldiers are raising their swords
When it’s for each other they should be fighting for.

If I could show you what I see
I see a table set for a King
A feast for a wedding
And a bride dressed in white
And Jesus the groom
Who’s the life and the light
Where all things are answered
And all things made clear
The brothers and sisters
Will live in peace there
And the battles between us
Will all disappear
